While Mumbaikars woke up to cooler weather and hazy skies on Thursday, November 21, the witnessed its second coldest night of the month in seven years with minimum temperature touching 18 degrees.
Besides, the AQI in Mumbai today, November 21, stands at 249.0, falling in the poor category.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) data showed that its Colaba observatory registered a temperature of 23 degree Celsius, and the Santacruz station recorded a minimum temperature of 18.5 degree Celsius on Wednesday, November 20. Meanwhile, the maximum daytime temperature in the suburbs as well as the island city division oscillated between 33 and 34 degree Celsius.
With this, citizens are also heaving relief with the city recording slightly below normal temperatures during the days.
The weather department further forecast that cold nights will continue for the next couple of days when the minimum temperatures will oscillate between 19 and 21 degree Celsius. However, from November 25, the IMD bulletin has forecast yet another spike in temperatures.
According to reports, earlier, the coldest November night was logged in 2017 when the minimum temperature in Santacruz dropped to 18 degree followed by 2022, when the minimum temperature touched 17 degree.
On Tuesday, November 19, Mumbai recorded an overall AQI of 108, categorised as "moderate," according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) portal.
