A fire broke out on Monday morning at Suvidha Pearl Apartments, a 13‑storey residential building in Vile Parle East, Mumbai. The blaze started on the 13th floor and was brought under control by the Mumbai Fire Brigade by around 12:54 pm.
A 63-year-old woman, Bhavna Satra, died in the fire, while another woman, 34-year-old Aneree, was injured and taken to hospital. Her condition is reported to be stable.
Firefighters, police, electricity officials, BMC staff, and ambulances rushed to the scene. Several fire engines, tankers, and specialized equipment were used to control the fire.
Authorities have classified it as a Level-1 fire, and the exact cause is still under investigation.
