In a recent disclosure, it was learned that Mumbai consists of one of the country's busiest streets in terms of vehicles within a kilometre's range. Whereas on the other hand, Delhi consists of 100 cars within a kilometre as compared to Mumbai's 500 cars per kilometre.

While the 5x difference might baffle you, it is vital to understand that Mumbai possesses only 2,000 km of roadways whereas the national capital boasts of a 28,000 km long road network. However, Mumbai isn't the sole city from Maharashtra on the list as it is followed by Pune, which has 359 cars per kilometre.

As per the State Transport Department statistics, after Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, and Bangalore follow the list with 319, 297 and 149 cars respectively. As compared to the city's car density in 2016, it has increased from 430 cars per kilometre to 510 cars.
