As per recent updates, Mumbai's Khar Danda, which is consisted to be one of the congested areas in the city, has been sealed by the BMC, keeping the increasing COVID-19 cases in mind. The areas within Khar Danda include Chuim Village, Khar Koliwada and the Gazdarbandh slum.

Officials have stated that approximately 30 new cases were identified in this part of Mumbai and hence the decision was taken with an aim to curb the spread. Locals will now be able to enter and exit through one point as other points have been closed, thereby helping officers in keeping a closed check.

The recently updated list of containment zones revealed that 165 areas were sealed in Ward H East (Bandra West, Khar West, Santacruz West) in Mumbai. Out of these 119 were in congested areas. Further, 59 buildings were sealed in Ward H West (Bandra West, Khar West, Santacruz West) out of which 24 were in congested areas.

In conversation with the Times of India, local corporator and a member of Shiv Sena, Sanjay Agaldare, said that the authorities are being cautious about the spread of coronavirus in their area as it has spread other koliwadas in Mumbai. The team has requested the BMC to help them with a sufficient supply of essentials, as this would help people stay safe within homes and not step out.

On April 12, 2020, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) took a decision to seal seven slums in Andheri West, Vile Parle West and Jogeshwari West (K-West ward). These are home to more than 1.2 lakh Mumbaikars and this decision is helping the local authorities monitor cases closely.
