Central Railway has announced a 63-hour special traffic and power block starting May 30 midnight to 3 pm on Sunday, June 2. A total of 930 i.e. 23 per cent local train services on the main and Harbour corridors will remain canceled during the block time.
Due to this block, the schedule of local trains will be changed which can affect the commuters.
In an official statement, the CR said that a special mega block of 63 hours will be organized at Thane station on Central Railway and a special block of 36 hours at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus for platform widening from midnight 30/31 (Thursday-Friday) to 12:30 on June 2. During this block the platform itself has been widened and the length of the platform has been increased.

A crucial block was carried out from May 31st - June 2nd at CSMT & Thane. This is to extend platform 10/11, widening of platform 5/6 in Thane for better passenger movement & NI work.

During the special block, the widening of platform number five and six of Thane station will be done. Meanwhile, the length of the platform will be extended at CSMT to stop 24 coach trains on platform number 10 and 11.
Here's all you need to know about the block:
- 930 local services will be canceled .
- 161 trains on Friday (31.5.2024)
- 534 trains on Saturday (01.6.2024)
- 235 trains canceled on Sunday (02.6.2024)
- 444 trains will be short terminated, including seven on Friday, 306 on Saturday and 131 on Sunday.
- A total of 446 local train services, including 307 on Saturday and 139 on Sunday, will originate from various stations.
- 72 mail-express trains cancelled
- Several mail-express and suburban trains will also be short-terminated and short-originated from Wadala, Dadar, Thane, Pune, Panvel, and Nashik stations.

Central Railway appeal to provide work from home facility to employees during special block. Also, Railways has appealed to avoid train travel during special blocks and to only travel if necessary.
