According to the latest reports, residents of Malabar Hill faced a power cut at nearly 10.40 pm following a technical failure on late Tuesday, May 10, evening.

A Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) spokesperson was quoted in accounts elaborating on how the interrupted electric supply in the Malabar Hill area was owing to a feeder fault for 15 minutes. A team of technicians was working at the site to restore the supply.

The PRO elaborated at 10.50 pm on Tuesday, "Off supply at Malabar Hill area in Mumbai is due to feeder fault. A team of technicians is working at the site to restore the supply." One of the most affluent areas in Mumbai, it reportedly receives its electric supply from the BEST.

Earlier late, Monday, May 9, evening, certain parts of the suburb and south Mumbai also witnessed a power outage because of a technical failure. BEST officials uttered the supply was restored within five minutes of the failure at around 8.35 pm.

Maharashtra has witnessed considerable power outages since April. This is because while the demand has risen, the supply of coal has been limited. But, amidst this, Mumbai has not been impacted immensely.

However, narratives suggest that Maharashtra Energy Minister Nitin Raut voiced last month that load shedding is inevitable to a certain extent in the state because of a shortage of coal and water.
