The exact cause of the fire in the building is not yet clear. According to the fire prevention law in the municipal area, it is necessary to install a fire prevention system for buildings with a height of more than fifteen meters including government offices. Also, if there is an industrial building, it becomes inevitable to install a fire prevention system without any height requirement.

However, Galaxy Hotel was built in 1966 and at that time there were no fire prevention laws. Therefore, the fire prevention system was not installed in the concerned building, informed the senior officials of the fire brigade.
