There has been heavy rain in Mumbai for the past three-four days and the railway services have been affected. The local train had a major disruption on Wednesday. However, while the railway services were disrupted, the passengers on the Western Railway got the support of the Metro. Many commuters prefer 'Dahisar - Andheri West Metro 2A' and 'Dahisar - Gundavali Metro 7' to travel between Dahisar – Andheri West and Dahisar – Gundvali, Andheri East. As many as 2,14,70 passengers travelled through these two routes on Wednesday.

The first phase of 'Metro 2A' and 'Metro 7' lines were commissioned in April 2022, while the second phase was commissioned on January 19, 2023. In the first phase, an average of 30,500 passengers were travelling on these routes every day. But after the second phase was put into service, both these routes started running at full capacity. So the number of passengers started increasing day by day.

After the number of passengers on the 'Metro 2A' and 'Metro 7' lines crossed the two lakh mark, now the number of passengers has increased from two lakh to two lakh 14 thousand in just a few days. It has been raining heavily in Mumbai for the past three-four days. Railway traffic was disrupted at many places on Wednesday due to waterlogging on the tracks or other reasons. This time many passengers preferred Metro. These officials also said that the number of passengers on Wednesday was the highest compared to the daily number of passengers so far.
