After the commencement of the entire stretch of the Mumbai Metro Aqua Line 3, also known as the Colaba–Bandra–SEEPZ corridor, there has been a steady rise in daily passenger numbers.
On October 13, the metro line recorded a total ridership of 1,64,877 commuters on the newly launched route, according to Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC).
The MMRC has launched WhatsApp-based ticketing for commuters of Metro Line 3.
"The service allows commuters to generate up to six QR tickets in one transaction, supports multiple payment options, and eliminates paper tickets, thereby promoting sustainable mobility. The UPI-based payments will have no additional fee, while minimal charges will be applicable for card transactions," it said.
Here's how to book:
It is pertinent to note that the WhatsApp-based ticketing service is not a first for the Mumbai Metro or India. The Maha Mumbai Metro Operations Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) has already implemented a similar ticketing service on Mumbai Metro Lines 2a and 7.
Meanwhile, In just 3 days since launch, India’s first common mobility app, developed by the MMRDA, has raced past 1.25 Lakh registrations — that’s a whopping 41,666 registrations a day on an average.
