The Mumbai Metro took to Twitter to share images of TBM Tansa-2 at Worli Station of Mumbai Metro line 3.

According to sources, it was transported in an assembled condition by self-propelled modular transporter to Science Museum station. It has been reported that the TBM will commence its 2200 m upline drive towards the Mumbai Central through the Mahalaxmi Station.

The Mumbai Metro has been working consistently amidst the pandemic. Tunnelling and Boring work are one of the most crucial aspects especially when it comes to the development of metro projects. Moreover, the work is going to cover a host of stations and it will further help the metro authorities to finish the works at a stipulated time period.

Although he tunnelling work for this metro line was expected to be completed by December 2020, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) is now facing a grim situation as the lack of labourers as well as the prolonged coronavirus lockdown has pushed the deadline to beyond February 2021.

The officials had earlier said that they have completed 83 per cent of the tunnelling work and 57 per cent of the overall project work for the Metro 3 line. They had added that the MMRC has only been tunnelling around 600 metres per month over the past two and a half months, whereas the average monthly tunnelling speed was 1,500 metres prior to the lockdown.
