The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) shifted over 100 people to safer places following a minor landslide incident in Ghatkopar (West) on Thursday, July 20.

The incident took place on Khairani Road, hours after the a landslide in Irsalwadi, Raigad, claimed almost 16 lives.

A large tree fell on the roof of the temple at Pitamaha Ramaji Nagar in Bhatwadi, Ghatkopar (West). A team from the local ward office and the National Disaster Response Force rushed to the spot and evacuated the people living nearby.

Gajanan Bellare, assistant municipal commissioner of N ward, said: "We inspected the area and found 25 to 30 houses in an unsafe condition. They were immediately shifted around 100 people to Barve Nagar Municipal School No.1."

After the Irsalwadi incident, the municipal officials have started inspection of the landslide prone area in Mumbai. Officials visited 15 areas in Ghatkopar and 10 in Bhandup

Additionally, people living in landslide prone areas have been requested to move to safe places.

Moreover, three rain-related deaths were reported in Palghar district on Thursday, July 20. One died after a car fell into a river in Kaloli village. A 19-year-old who went for a swim in Kapase lake drowned.
Another man drowned in a pond in Khamloli. In Vasai, 80 people, mostly from Rajavali and Mithaghar, were shifted after their homes flooded.
