Earlier, five months ago, the railway officials had stated that the new and upgraded coach of the 17-car was ready at the Integral Coach Factory in the Chennai manufacturing unit. The coach is a second class coach which is at par with LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches.

There was a delay in this development as the finalisation of the designs to upgrade the dining car was approved in February 2021. In the dining car, there will be 10-dining tables and four chairs around each of the windows. The dining car will be of 40 seaters, as per the finalised design.
