The new and upgraded coach of the 17-car is ready at the Integral Coach Factory in the Chennai manufacturing unit. The coach is a second class coach which is at par with LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches.

The train will likely arrive in Mumbai by the year-end after all the coaches are coloured with a shade named 'restrained imperium', Shivaji Sutar, Central Railway Chief Public Relations Officer (PRO) confirmed the same.

There was a delay in this development as the finalisation of the designs to upgrade the dining car was approved in February 2021. According to officials, the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, has approved the designs after the Ministry of Railways had done the due approvals in March 2020.

In the dining car, there will be 10-dining tables and four chairs around each of the windows. The dining car will be of 40 seaters, as per the finalised design.

There will be a well-equipped kitchen in half of the coach with pantry storage, electric cooking range, deep freezers. There will also be a refrigerator, a service table, multiple sinks and service counters for the manager.

This is the first LHB-class dining car of Indian Railways. It has more riding comfort with a speed of 160 km per hour that could go up to 200 km per hour.
