Amid incessant showers lashing the city and its suburbs, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has extended the red alert till tomorrow afternoon, July 28, indicating extremely heavy rainfall.

IMD has also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai city and suburbs with possibility of extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places today, July 27. Moderate to intense spells of rainfall very likely over Mumbai during next 3-4 hours.

Waterlogging has also been reported in several areas of the city. Moreover, schools and colleges till Class XII have been shut along with this all the exams were also postponed.

The IMD has continued its orange alert for Thane, Raigad, and Palghar, indicating the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places.

Apart from Mumbai, this morning, residents of low-lying areas in Nagpur woke up to flooded streets, underbridges and homes after heavy rain lashed city. As is the case during every monsoon in the city, the roughly an-hour heavy downpour from 12 midnight to 1am inundated many parts of the city.

The streets were waterlogged and rainwater entered many houses in north, east, south and west Nagpur, officials from Nagpur Municipal Corporation's fire and emergency services department told TOI.
