It has been raining continuously in different areas of Maharashtra since Wednesday. It is also raining continuously in Mumbai and surrounding areas. A red alert has also been issued in Mumbai from Thursday, 27 July to Friday, July 28. The administration has appealed to the people to come out of the houses only when there is very important work. Meanwhile, in view of heavy rains and floods, 13 teams of NDRF have been deployed in different districts of Maharashtra.


IMD said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over Mumbai city and suburbs today with extremely heavy falls at isolated places. Moderate to intense rainfall is likely over Mumbai during the next 3-4 hours.

In the last 24 hours, Mumbai has recorded 223 mm of rain, Colaba 145 mm and Santacruz 145 mm. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a road safety alert for Thursday as the city is witnessing heavy rains and a red alert is on. Avoid driving in waterlogged areas to avoid vehicle damage, be careful on slippery roads, drive slowly and keep distance from other vehicles and follow traffic changes and guidelines for smooth traffic flow
