Mumbai Rains: The incessant rain can last for another 24 hours

There has been consistent rainfall in the month of August in Mumbai and its surrounding areas. The last couple of days have not been any different. The ongoing rains have become a big challenge for people who have to commute for work. Due to the lockdown, a lot of people are working from home. However, people engaged in the essential service sector have to commute to work. Additionally, now a lot of commercial places such as shops etc have also started opening up under the "Mission Begin Again" by the government. 

People who are travelling to work have to mostly commute by road since the services for local trains is restricted for people engaged in the essential sector only. Due to the ongoing rain, there have been reports of waterlogging in various parts. In addition to this, there have also been reports of potholes from various parts, which are not only dangerous but also slow down the traffic movement on the roads. 

Due to the incessant rains, there was also a report on building collapse in the Bandra area. So far two people have sustained injuries in this incident. 

IMD had already shared a forecast for heavy rainfall in the area on Monday. Furthermore, the Indian Metrological had issued a green alert on Monday for the coming three days.  

As per the weather on Monday, Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai received 70-100 mm rainfall at many places while Dahisar, Nerul received more than 120 mm. In the Tuesday morning briefing, it was also noted that Tuesday will continue to be a cloudy day for Mumbai with few intense spells
