On Thursday, June 9, Mumbai reported 1,702 new COVID-19 cases, highlighted data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). With these updates in numbers, the active cases in the city are at 7,998.
Additionally, 78 patients were hospitalized owing to the novel coronavirus on Thursday, owing to this 1.31 per cent of the beds are occupied of the total available beds.
The BMC has been conducting COVID-19 tests on a war footing, in light of this, 17,648 tests were conducted in the city on Thursday. Moreover, one fatality owing to the novel virus was reported. Not only was the patient over the age of 60 but also suffered from comorbidities.

Mumbai's recovery rate is now at 97 per cent with a doubling rate of 733 days. On a positive note, there continue to be no active containment zones or sealed buildings in the city.
On the other hand, on Thursday Maharashtra registered 2813 new COVID-19 cases, 1047 recoveries and one death in the last 24 hours.
Furthermore, the tally of the state is now at 1,47,867. With 1,047 patients discharged in the day, taking the number is at 77,42,190.
Maharashtra's recovery rate is 97.98 per cent and the case fatality rate in the state is 1.87 per cent.
