With the Ganeshotsav celebrations inching in closer, several people are ready to go back to their villages and hometowns. In view of this, the Railways has now decided to run the Mumbai-Sawantwadi special train.

The Mumbai-Sawantwadi special train is going to start on Tuesday, August 11. These trains are touted to run daily from Mumbai to Sawantwadi from August 11 to September 5. They will be plying from CSMT and LTT.

Four trains will run daily from Mumbai to Sawantwadi. The number of trains will be decided on the basis of seats. With regards to booking, e-pass will work as a confirmed ticket only. Along with this, the rules of social distancing have to be followed in the train. Sanitization will also be arranged in a bid to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the state government has issued SOP regarding the celebrations of Ganeshotsav. According to the norms, this year, the Ganesh idols are to be four feet high only. The CM had earlier asked the Ganpati mandals in the city to keep the height of the idols small and celebrate the 10-day Ganesh festival, beginning August 22, in a low-key fashioned way.

On the other hand, the Brihanmumbai Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samanvay Samiti has urged the BMC to build more artificial ponds across the city in view of the Ganeshotsav. The organisation has stated that the civic body has 34 artificial ponds at the moment.
