On Wednesday, school bus operators stated that unless the government agrees to their demands, their buses and vans will go off roads, reported the Times of India. The report quoted the School Bus Owners’ Association, Anil Garg who elaborated on how they washed their hands off 18 months when their buses weren’t plying on the roads. Their demands entail an extension of two years of a bus’s life since it can ply in the city for a mere eight years.

In the backdrop of educational establishments opening their doors to students after almost a year. Days into reopening schools in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has brought to light that there wasn’t any increase in the number of coronavirus cases amongst children in the island city. This declaration was made by the civic authority after more than two weeks of the reopening of schools.

On the other hand, recently the civic authority initiated a scheme to make a safe school zone in Mumbai to make roads and footpaths outside schools safe for the children. Free of any barriers and walkable roads, it is also made colourful for pedestrians. The pilot project was launched by the BMC at Byculla in Mirza Ghalib Road.
