Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh tope today, October 20, announced that a special vaccination drive likely to be conducted in the college campus for the students. He said that discussions are underway regarding the same, however, a final decision will be taken soon.
This comes on the day physical classes for the degree colleges in Mumbai have resumed after a gap of almost two years due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Rajesh Tope discussed about the campaign with Uday Samant, Minister for Higher and Technical Education, where he mentioned the necessity to fully vaccinate all students.
In this regard, Uday Samant said that the committee will held a meeting with the Director of Health Department Archana Patil. Tope said that this will help those students to get their jabs who have already taken their first dose. “We are considering to launch this campaign by next week,” he added.
A day earlier, Rajesh Tope stated that the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic hasn’t receded in the state yet, but added that conditions aren’t favourable to promptly result in a third wave. He stated that the COVID-19 task force has warned of the third wave after the Diwali festivities.
Moreover, on Monday, October 18, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar also warned that the threat of the third wave of COVID-19 is not yet over. She further added that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is ready to vaccinate children. However, they are still waiting for the guidelines from the Central government.
