With the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) giving the green signal, degree colleges in Mumbai are going to recommence in-person classes after nearly 19 months, on Wednesday, highlighted accounts. Whilst the colleges under Mumbai University in the hinterland had classes for a while in February, the BMC for the first time provided approval to recommence classes after they were closed last year in March. Based on accounts, the majority of the colleges look to commence classes as well as practicals for postgraduate students, Wednesday onwards.

Accounts state that additional municipal commissioner Ashwini Bhide, in a letter to the Mumbai University, accepted the recommencement of classes with a 50% cap. In addition to this, only those who are fully inoculated can be asked to return to in-person classes. However, this rule isn’t applicable to those who are under the age of 18.

Based on narratives, the civic authority told Mumbai University as well as its affiliated colleges to adhere to the COVID-19 precautions when classes begin. Furthermore. If any students aren’t vaccinated, the principal should get in touch with the nearest ward office to hold a special camp on the premises of the college.

Apart from this, there were also several reports of colleges starting their practical sessions for students in the junior college earlier this month. In light of this, they are looking to begin degree classes in a phased manner. Some narratives also claim that they are hoping to first summon postgraduate students.
