Aditya Thackeray directs officials to work in coordination towards solving traffic congestion in Mumbai

The meeting was charied by Guardian Minister Aditya Thackeray who asked the concerned officials about the improvement of roads in Mumbai suburbs. Presentation regarding post-monsoon repair work, beautification, and other aspects was made by departments.

Guardian Minister of Mumbai Suburban District, Aditya Thackeray, on Saturday, October 10, 2020, reviewed the important road works in Mumbai. Present at the meeting were Managing Director of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) R. L. Mopalwar, Additional Metropolitan Commissioner of MMRDA Dr K. H. Govindraj, Sonia Sethi, Joint Commissioner of Police (Transport) Yashasvi Yadav, Member of Mumbai Municipal Corporation Roads Department Sanjay Darade among others.

The meeting was held to discussed the road improvement plans of Western Expressway (WEH), East Expressway (EEH), SV Road, Lal Bahadur Shastri Road (LBS Road), Andheri - Ghatkopar Link Road, Jogeshwari - Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR), and Santacruz - Chembur Link Road (SCLR) with the senior officers of the concerned departments. 

Addressing the same, Aaditya Thackeray said that these seven important highways in the city are being handled by different departments, and are being widely used by the commuters on a daily basis. Over the last many months, Mumbaikars have been raising concerns about the condition of the roads and keeping this in mind, these roads should be improved and beautified.

To ensure smooth functioning on a daily basis, he asked all the concerned departments like MMRDA, MSRDC, Municipal Corporation, Traffic Police etc. to work in coordination thereby manage the traffic which has increased over time.

Officials also stated that the road work which was halted due to monsoon and coronavirus pandemic will resume soon, and a presentation regarding the same was made which focused on the post-monsoon road projects. Besides this, it included information on pavement beautification, planting of bamboo and other ornamental trees, road markings, traffic signage, carriageway upgrade, e-toilets, and development under flyovers. Concerned departments also presented an Intelligent Traffic Management System which is being proposed to control traffic in the city.

Meanwhile, Aaditya Thackeray also discussed the road works in Worli and the transport system in the locality.
