On Thursday, January 13, evening, Anirudh Machad a 13-year-old, resident of Sahar village in Andheri east who was flying a kite died after a coconut palm snapped and crashed on him, stated reports. It has been alleged that on the same evening, a few children were playing there when the coconut palm suddenly crashed on the teenager. 

According to accounts, the boy's body was then taken to Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem and he was declared brought dead by the hospital authorities. Moreover, at the Sahar police station, an accidental death report has been filed. It was mentioned in the narratives that officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that the road near which the said mishap happened was given over to the MMRDA back in 2015 for the Metro Line 3 work.

Based on accounts, there are nearly 29.75 lakh trees in the city based on the census concluded in 2018 by the BMC. Since then, the civic body has attained almost 18,500 complaints of tree fall incidents with numbers increasing every year, especially in the midst of the recent cyclones, claimed accounts.
