According to the data shared by Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), on Wednesday, June 23, more than 1,00,000 citizens were vaccinated against the coronavirus.

This comes after the civic body resumed the vaccination process for the age group 18-30. Meanwhile, there are 386 vaccination centres in the city, of which 94 are private, 20 are state or central government ones, while the remaining 272 are civic centres.

Moreover, the civic body has informed that of the 79,748 citizens in the 18-44 age group vaccinated on Wednesday. Also, the majority (46,066) were vaccinated at the civic-run centres only. In addition, currently, vaccination slots will continue to be on a 50:50 ratio (50% slots will be via online booking and 50% will be on a walk-in basis), BMC officials stated. Furthermore, as of Wednesday, 4,684,050 citizens have been vaccinated since January 16, 2021. Of the total, 1,408,527 beneficiaries are from the 45-59 age group, 1,363,740 above 60 years of age and 1,220,040 in the 18-44 age group.

On the other hand, earlier on Tuesday, June 22, the BMC informed the Bombay High Court that it will finalise its policy on starting door-to-door COVID-19 vaccination drives within a week.

However, it will available for the elderly, disabled persons and those who are bedridden and unable to visit the inoculation centres. The state's counsel, Geeta Shastri, submitted a draft policy before a bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice G S Kulkarni.
