The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will be laying a new 2,400mm diameter water pipe between the Powai Anchor Block and Maroshi Water Tunnel on Wednesday, February 5. The work is expected to continue for 30 hours.

During this period, water supply from the two 1,800 mm diameter pipes from Tansa and West will be halted. Therefore, the civic body has announced water cut from 11 am on February 5 until 5 pm on February 6.

The BMC has also warned that water may appear muddy for a few days after the new pipe installation. Residents are advised to boil water before use during this period.

On Wednesday, February 5, areas affected by the water cut will include parts of Ghatkopar, Bhandup, Kurla, Dharavi, Andheri East, and Bandra East. In particular, the south section of Kurla will be impacted, including Kajupada, Navpada, New MHADA Colony, Maharashtra Kata, and Kranti Nagar, among others. Parts of Dharavi, such as Dharavi Main Marg and A. K. G. Nagar, as well as areas in Andheri East like Marol and Hill View Society, will also face disruptions.

On Thursday, February 6, water cuts will affect areas including Bhandup West, Pratap Nagar Road, Sonapur Junction, Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, and parts of Kurla and Dharavi. Additionally, areas in Andheri East such as MIDC Road, Marol Industrial Area, and J. B. Nagar will experience a lack of water supply. Bandra East, including Kherwadi Service Road and Behram Pada, will also be impacted.

Ward-wise list of areas to be affected:

S Ward: Areas including Shri Ram Pada, Khindi Pada, Milind Nagar, Shivaji Nagar, Bhayander Hill, Gautam Nagar, and others will face a complete water supply shut off on February 5 and 6, 2025.

L Ward: Areas such as Kajupada, Sundarbaug, and Maharashtra Katta in Kurla South will experience water disruptions on February 5, 2025. Water supply will be shut off in Kurla North areas on February 6, 2025.

G North Ward: Areas like Dharavi Main Road, Ganesh Mandir Road, and AKG Nagar will face water cuts on February 5, 2025. Water supply will be disrupted in other parts of the ward on February 6, 2025.

K East Ward: Water supply will be cut off in areas including Kanti Nagar, Chakala, Marol, Vihar Road, and others on February 5, 2025. International Airport and surrounding areas will face a water supply disruption on both February 5 and 6, 2025.

H East Ward: Water supply will be completely shut off in Bandra Terminus and surrounding areas on both February 5 and 6, 2025.
