Mumbai youth dies in Channat Falls; Leap turns fatal

Rishi Pathipaka (22) from Mumbai drowned in the water due to a mistake while enjoying a dip in the waterfall in Channat village in Mangaon taluka of Raigad district as per the report by Indian Express. Meanwhile, this is the sixth death to occur at a tourist spot in Raigad district.

Rishi, who lives in Jogeshwari, Mumbai, was going to Raigad Fort with friends on Monday, June 30. On the way to the fort, he saw a waterfall in Channat village. So all the friends stopped there and Rishi went to take a dip in the waterfall. Towards evening, Rishi was swept away by the current of the waterfall.

His friends informed the Mangaon police about the incident. A search operation was then launched. Rishi's body was found on Tuesday, July 1. Rescue teams from Kolad and Mangaon recovered Rishi's body. 

The search operation was carried out in coordination with SVRSS Kolad Rescue Team, Shelar Mama Rescue Team (Bhira Patnus), wildlife experts from Mangaon, police administration and Channat villagers. Volunteers said that heavy rain and water flow were hampering the search operation.
