The Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) bridge, Eastern Express Highway, Vikhroli (E) has been closed for renovation works from May 13, 2022, to May 24, 2022. In light of this, the Mumbai traffic police have requested Mumbaikars to travel on the alternate route to avoid inconvenience.

They have asked vehicles going towards Thane to make use of the Eastern Express Highway under the JVLR flyover.

While an alternative road has been recommended by the authorities, citizens are not pleased. Many have taken to social media to voice their discontent. A user on Twitter said, "Traffic has gone for a complete toss. Unfortunately shows how weak our planning and disaster management is."

According to a report by Mid-Day, the authorities have fastened the pace of the repairs on the JVLR flyover. Based on the account, five of the seven expansion joints have been replaced.

Since part of the JVLR has been shut for motorists, complaints have come of immense traffic congestion during peak hours. It has been reported that the Eastern Express Highway's lane and that of JVLR heading towards Thane are often packed in vehicular congestion till Powai.

An MSRDC official was quoted in the narrative elaborating on how while they have permission till May 24 to complete the work, they are attempting to complete the work before that.
