The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced that the Colaba observatory measured 548.2 mm of rainfall for the month, surpassing the average of 542 mm, as on Thursday, June 26.
According to officials, this is a positive departure of 90 mm from the actual normal.
In contrast, the suburban Santacruz station recorded merely 478 mm, which is 10% below its average of 537 mm for May.
According to the IMD, the city will continue to experience heavy downpour in the coming days with a yellow alert sounded in Mumbai and its neighbouring districts Thane and Palghar until the end of the month (June 30).
Therefore, authorities have alerts to stop visitors from accessing the beach at Juhu when the tide is high. Juhu beach has captured interest as Mumbai's island city section received more than its typical June rainfall. The weather department has warned of rough seas for three days, advising residents to stay away from beaches due to predicted waves over 4.5 meters.
