The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced 24-hour water cut starting May 27 in the pockets of P/North (Malad), R/South (Kandivali) and R/Central (Borivali) wards. The work is slated to take place between 10 pm on May 27 to 10 pm on May 28.
This development comes in order to eliminate water leakages as the BMC is undertaking replacement of an existing 900-metre diameter water main at Malad’s Marve road.
Additionally, the civic body will introduce a 16-hour water cut in parts of Andheri to Bandra and P/South (Goregaon) wards on May 29. Some areas will also witness low-pressure supply during the period.
Meanwhile, the BMC will be carrying out the work on cross-connection of newly laid 1,500-mm water main along with the newly laid 1200-mm outlet, which will be replacing the old main in Andheri (East) between May 29-30. The civic body will undertake the work between 9 am on May 29 to 1 am on May 30.
Following the project, the water levels at the Veravali reservoir will improve, subsequently improving water supply in Andheri, Jogeshwari and Vile Parle as well.
In the light of the water cut, the civic body has urged citizens to use water judiciously.
