BMC Elections 2026: Mumbai Central RTO office to remain closed on January 14 and 15

As per the orders of the State Election Commission, the concerned election officers have been empowered to requisition necessary staff, buildings, and vehicles for the Panchayat and Municipal elections.

In view of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, the Regional Transport Office, Mumbai (Central) will remain closed on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, and Thursday, January 15, 2026.  During this period, no regular services will be available to citizens at the Regional Transport Office, as informed by the Transport Department.

As per the orders of the State Election Commission, the concerned election officers have been empowered to requisition necessary staff, buildings, and vehicles for the Panchayat and Municipal elections. Therefore, the Deputy Election Officer, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, has taken possession of the building and premises of the Regional Transport Office, Mumbai (Central) for two days to facilitate the smooth conduct of the Municipal elections scheduled for January 15, 2026.

Consequently, all services and operations at the Regional Transport Office, Mumbai (Central) will be completely suspended on January 14 and 15, 2026. The Regional Transport Office has appealed to the public to take note of this and reschedule their work for the relevant services on other dates.
