The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani has instructed the concerned officials to keep the Marine Drive area clean and its natural beauty intact.

Bhushan Gagrani has instructed to improve other facilities including cleanliness, open space for walking, good seating arrangement.

Commissioner Gagrani instructed to remove unnecessary roadblocks in the National Center for Performing Arts area at Nariman Point. This area is visited by Mumbaikars as well as tourists from India and abroad.

Emphasis should be placed on keeping the Marine Drive area more relaxed and clean. Unnecessary notice boards should be removed, pedestrian areas in the area, seats for citizens should be kept in good condition, so that citizens can sit here comfortably.

Care should be taken to ensure that the cables do not hang from the electricity poles in the area. Bhushan Gagrani also drew the attention of the officials to the following issues: painting these pillars from time to time, making the space for wheelchairs for the disabled more spacious, etc.

He also inspected the toilet system in the Marine Drive area. It is necessary to focus on keeping the dividers in this area clean at all times. The stalls of Aarey and their colors should be kept consistent. More facilities should be provided to the citizens coming here.

Gagrani also suggested that no one should put up any boards or posters in the entire area without the permission of the civic body. He also suggested that lamps should be arranged in such a way that the Parsi Gate in the Marine Drive area would be lit by lamps.

Some citizens cross the dividers in the Marine Drive area. Gagrani instructed the Municipal Corporation and police officials to find a solution to this problem. Construction materials from Girgaum Chowpatty should be removed and cleanliness should be maintained there.

He directed that the police post along the road should be shifted to the previous small Chowpatty. It was also suggested that toilets should be arranged in this construction and a footpath should be built for the citizens coming from Girgaum Chowpatty to reach here.
