The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) on Monday issued a clarification after a social media message claiming that the Morbe Dam had overflowed went viral.

According to the civic body, the Morbe Dam owned by NMMC, located at Morbe village in Khalapur taluka of Raigad district, is 42.48% full as of July 6, 2026, and has not overflowed.

NMMC said the viral message actually refers to the Morbe Minor Irrigation Scheme in Panvel taluka, which is managed by the Water Resources Department. The department has confirmed that the irrigation project overflowed on July 5, 2026.

The civic body has appealed to residents not to believe or circulate rumours and to rely only on official information. It also shared its emergency toll-free helpline numbers: 1800-222-309 and 1800-222-310.
