The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has ranked first among 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra in the City E-Governance Index (CEGI) 2026 with a score of 9.11. The rankings were released by the Policy Research Organization, Pune, after an extensive assessment carried out between November 1 and December 31, 2025.

The rankings consider digital governance performance and cover the official websites, mobile applications, and social media platforms of 29 municipal corporations across Maharashtra.

The assessment was based on hundreds of parameters grouped under three main pillars. These included service availability, administrative openness, and digital accessibility. The index reviewed how easily citizens could access services and information through digital platforms.

As per reports, the index also included a comparative study of e-governance initiatives implemented by municipal corporations over the past five years. This showed progress made by civic bodies over time.

NMMC’s services include smooth online transactions, a structured grievance redressal system, and regularly updated digital platforms. Its official website and the “My NMMC” mobile application are updated frequently. Residents can access several services online at any time. These include grievance registration, tax payments, application for certificates, and tracking application status.

The civic body has also implemented a full e-office system. This system supports paperless administration through online approvals, digital movement of files, and electronic record storage. In addition, an ERP-based system has been introduced.

As part of its Smart City initiatives, NMMC has installed CCTV cameras with AI-based surveillance. Data analytics dashboards are used for real-time monitoring, and a traffic management system has been implemented to manage vehicle flow. All this has led to fewer office visits, faster delivery of services and more transparency.
