The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has paid special attention to the concept of pothole-free roads and junctions in the year 2012-13 as per the instructions given by the Supreme Court to the government authorities and local bodies of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. In this regard, an annual maintenance repair contract has been executed for immediate repair of potholes wherever they are found. This matter has been attached to the Grievance Redressal System and WhatsApp number 8424948888 has been made available for citizen contact.
The special thing in this is that in order to avoid traffic jams in the intersections in the municipal area, the work of concreting the roads around the intersections has been undertaken. The NMMC has started this work keeping in mind the priority order of junctions and till now the work of 63 out of 88 junctions has been completed. In this, 7 in Belapur Division, 21 in Nerul Division, 4 in Vashi Division, 10 in Turbhe Division, 3 in Koparkhairane Division, 14 in Ghansoli Division, 4 in Airoli Division have been completed. According to the instructions given by the NMMC Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar in the city disaster management committee meeting, the said work has been completed before the rainy season maintaining quality.
The work of the remaining 15 chowks was stopped in accordance with the monsoon period. However, as per the discussion with the Navi Mumbai Traffic Police Department, considering the need for this work and Navratri immediately after monsoon. Considering the period of festivals and festivals like Dussehra, Diwali, it is possible to carry out concreting work of this chowk after getting some relief from the rains during the rainy season.
Keeping in mind that the curing of concrete is also done well during this period, it has been suggested that these works should be done after the rainfall subsides a little. In accordance with that, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation is conducting an inspection and according to which time it is possible to work during monsoons, it is being tracked. Similarly, the concreting works of the remaining 10 junctions will be done after monsoon.
