A one-day symbolic strike has been called across the state on December 14 as the Mathadi Labor Act is being undermined. In this strike, for the first time, the workers of leafy vegetables, fruit market and private companies will also go on strike. This information was given in a press conference.

Protests, letters, and demands were made by all the Mathadi labour leaders to the then Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Labour Minister in order to defend the Mathadi Act. But no one took his application seriously. In the past few years, the proposals that came in the name of the Mathadi Labor Reform Bill were to destroy the Mathadi Labour Act. There are no provisions in the bill regarding the real extortion workers, the gangs, the industrialists, the workers who do not follow the labour law.

This is being ignored despite showing constant opposition. We requested many times to the government to organise a meeting in an effort to resolve and reform but still got no response, if this law is implemented then 80 percent of the Mathadi Act will be ineffectual, Mathadi workers will be on the streets. Patil said that the workers of ports, warehouses, and private companies will participate in this one-day protest. Former minister and Mathadi labour leader Shashikant Shinde was also present on this occasion.
