The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Standing Committee has approved a INR 89.62 lakh project for the construction of stormwater drains and footpaths in Ghansoli's Shantinagar area as part of a series of civic infrastructure works cleared during its latest meeting.
The project includes the construction of a 371-metre-long drain and a 356-metre-long, four-metre-wide footpath to improve drainage and ease pedestrian movement in the locality.
The proposals, submitted by the civic administration under Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, were unanimously approved at the Standing Committee meeting chaired by Chairman Ashok Bhauso Patil.
Among the other projects cleared, the committee sanctioned INR 31.12 lakh for the construction of a 130-metre-long drain in Balaram Wadi, Ghansoli, to address waterlogging caused by the absence of a proper drainage system.
The committee also approved INR 63.05 lakh for the replacement and improvement of damaged sewer lines and chambers in the condominium area of Sector 8, Nerul, where residents have complained of frequent sewage blockages.
In Vashi, INR 25.90 lakh was sanctioned for the development of Aai-Baba Garden in Sector 7, while INR 30.59 lakh was approved for the beautification of Gyan Kalash Garden in Sector 6.
Additionally, INR 29.26 lakh was cleared for the repair of the compound wall at the Rajiv Gandhi Sports Complex in CBD Belapur.
According to the civic administration, the projects are aimed at improving public infrastructure, enhancing recreational spaces, and addressing long-pending civic issues across Navi Mumbai.
