The new building of Navi Mumbai Vashi Sub-Regional Transport Office in Nerul is ready and the work was to be started from the new building before Ganeshotsav. The Chief Minister of the state, Eknath Shinde, is going to inaugurate it, but due to lack of time for the Chief Minister, the timing of the inauguration has been missed and it is likely to happen after Ganeshotsav, according to the RTO officials.

Navi Mumbai Sub Regional Office was started in the year 2004 for Navi Mumbai city. However, since then this office is running on lease in APMC Bazar in Vashi. Now RTO has its own building in Nerul but as it has not yet inaugurated, the work has not started in the new building yet. A plot in Nerul Sector 13 was acquired from CIDCO to have its own space for the RTO office. But there was a delay in taking possession of the said plot by the Public Works Department.

In the year 2019, the Bhoomi Puja of this sub regional office building was done. However, after that the construction of this building was delayed due to Corona and layoffs. The construction of this building was completed in January-February itself. The new building at Nerul is a furnished 4 storey. A separate Road Safety Cell and Hirakani Room for women employees will be started in this new office. Currently, the transport office has to pay INR 3.65 lakh rent per month. RTO will save money if it starts working from the new office soon.
