On the occasion of Navratri, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has extended the services of Mumbai Metro 2A and 7, which are connected, to enhance the comfort and safety of commuters during the festivities.

There will be 14 additional services of Metro between 10.30 pm and 12.20 pm on Line 2A and 7 (Gundavli-Dahisar-Andheri west) in Mumbai, said Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

This change from the current closing time of 10:30 pm will be in effect from October 19 to 23.

Under this new arrangement, the final trains on these lines will depart at 12:20 am and will arrive at their destinations (Andheri West and Gundavali) at 1:33 am. This extension in operating hours will result in the addition of 14 more trips to the schedule each with a 15-minutes headway between trains.

CM Shinde also decided to make 267 trips available on weekdays and for Saturday and Sunday schedules will include 252 and 219 trips respectively.

This will bring a sigh of relief to Garba revelers, who can enjoy long hours of celebration without having to worry about the troubles of traffic and the expenses of late-night travels, the statement read.

For those unversed, Line 7 which is an elevated corridor along the Western Express Highway (WEH) links Dahisar and Gundivali in Andheri East. While Line 2A runs above New Link Road between Dahisar and Andheri West.
