As the New Year Eve is just around the corner, Mumbai Traffic Police has issued an advisory note regarding the diversion of routes. The Mumbai Traffic Police has 34 divisions across the city. In order to ensure that no accidents take place, the traffic police will have two-three nakabandis in each division and the personnel will be armed with breath analyzers. There will be over 2,500 police personnel and 200 volunteers to ensure smooth traffic movement.

A senior traffic police authority stated that the northbound stretch from Nariman Point till Girgaum will be closed for vehicular movement from 6 pm on December 31 till 6 am on January 1 and no parking will be allowed there. There will be traffic diversions. There will be traffic curbs at more places across the city.

Notably, Mumbaikars were all in for praises for Mumbai Police when they ensured a peaceful protest at August Kranti Maidan against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Deputy Commissioner of Police Pranay Ashok stated that they had deployed around 3,000 police personnel at the location along with using drones and CCTV cameras at the location. Moreover, Local Arms Police, Riot Control Police and State Reserve Police Force were also deployed to ensure that the protestors refrain from getting violent and there wouldn't be any stampede like situation.
