Government Railway Police (GRP), Child Welfare Committee (CWC), and members of a children's home are coordinating to plan a long-term rehabilitation for an orphan teen who was gang-raped last month.
The incident surfaced last month on August 7, when a staff member of GRP found the victim in the compartment of a suburban train in Dadar.
The victim was taken to a hospital by CWC and GRP officials. The girl then revealed to the staffers from a children's home in Dongri and CWC members that a man and his friends sexually assaulted her for several days in Vasai.
An FIR was filed after tests and treatment conducted in JJ Hospital confirmed that she was raped.
GRP officers continued the probe, and as per reports, one of the accused approached the girl. Later, she was raped by him and two other men for several days.
GRP DCP addressed the media, saying that the girl was in trauma and could not give many details. However, based on CCTV footage, three men were arrested, and the victim identified them. They are working to find evidence against them.
He further added that they sent a proposal to appoint a special public prosecutor for the same.
While addressing the media, the chairperson of Mumbai CWC, Vijay Dohipode, said that they are keeping track of girls' health. They are also planning for her "long-term rehabilitation, including the continuation of her studies, provision of shelter and counselling."
As per the hospital, the girl is said to be aged between 15 and 17.
