In a major step towards promoting digital ticketing and enhancing passenger convenience, Central Railway successfully launched the M-UTS (Mobile Unreserved Ticketing System) Sahayak Scheme on 31.10.2025 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Mumbai.

The M-UTS Sahayak Scheme introduces a smart, technology-driven system for issuing unreserved tickets. Under this initiative, trained M-UTS Sahayaks, equipped with mobile phones and Bluetooth-enabled printers, issue unreserved tickets seamlessly near booking counters and in passenger circulation areas. This provides greater flexibility, accessibility and ease of travel for passengers.

The deployment of M-UTS Sahayaks is helping to significantly reduce queues at ticket counters, speed up the ticketing process and enhance passenger satisfaction, particularly during peak travel periods. Three M-UTS Sahayaks have been deployed at CSMT with effect from 01.11.2025.

The performance of the M-UTS Sahayaks at CSMT is encouraging:

November 2025: 37,267 tickets issued, benefiting 54,169 passengers

December 2025: 49,167 tickets issued, benefiting 70,462 passengers

January 2026: 50,306 tickets issued, benefiting 72,569 passengers

In addition to the M-UTS initiative, Mumbai Division has also strengthened its automated ticketing infrastructure. A total of 803 ATVMs are available across 88 stations over Mumbai Division. Furthermore, procurement of 332 new ATVMs has been undertaken, out of which 248 machines will be installed over Mumbai Division, further enhancing ticketing convenience for passengers.

This initiative underscores Central Railway’s strong commitment to passenger-friendly services. Through the M-UTS Sahayak Scheme and expansion of ATVM facilities, Central Railway continues to leverage modern technology to reduce waiting times, improve efficiency and make suburban rail travel smoother, faster and more convenient for commuters.
