According to reports, the Navi Mumbai Police has booked over 100 people for flouting the norms with regards to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Several citizens have been found at many picnic spots across the area, bathing in waterfalls in the rain-struck Konkan region amidst the flood alert. In view of the continual downpour across the state of Maharashtra, the authorities had earlier asked people to stay at home in order to avoid danger. However, citizens were still witnessed flouting the norms.

These people were witnessed at the Gavli Dev waterfall, Pandavkada waterfall, and other scenic locations in the region. Moreover, at least 61 people were booked near Gavli Dev and 52 near Pandavkada waterfall by the Navi Mumbai Police which collected a total fine of INR 34,000 from the visitors.

Furthermore, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) had earlier allowed operations to resume at Level 2 since the relaxations went into effect in early June. Among the permitted establishments were malls and theatres. However, the detection of the Delta Plus mutation across Maharashtra meant that rules had to be changed, restricting shops and other businesses to remain open only until 4 PM. In addition, non-essential shops were forced to close on the weekends.
