The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC), for the first time, conducted a recruitment drive after its existence in 2016. In six days, PMC received over 25,268 applications for 377 job posts. The deadline for submitting applications is still a month away.

To get a job in the civic body all the applicants will have to give a competitive exam, which will be conducted online. The candidates will be alerted about the exam details through emails and SMS.

The civic body has established a grievance redressal cell for applicants and cautioned them to be wary of fake job offers. Candidates can also call on toll-free numbers 27458042 or 27458041 for the same.

The recruitment drive through Saral Seva, began on July 13, on the orders of municipal commissioner Ganesh Deshmukh. There has been a significant reaction from candidates ever since the advertisements for jobs in the Group A to Group D categories were released.

Administrative, engineering, technical, legal, fire service, security service, information and technology, accounts and finance, garden, urban development, mechanical, public health, sports, primary health, veterinary, audit, and other civic departments have vacancies. Hence the civic body decided to start the recruitment process. The period for applying for the job mentioned above began on July 13 and will end on August 17.

Kailas Gawde, deputy municipal commissioner (headquarters) has been kept in the loop for the process. Candidates can check Panvel Municipal Corporation’s official website for details regarding the online application process and other issues.

A senior official said, “The group-wise details of posts, pay scale, age limit/relaxation of age limit, recruitment process, general information, terms and conditions, educational qualification, reservations, reservation provisions, post wise online examination syllabus, examination fee, guidance in filling application, etc. can be checked on the website.”

The recruitment will be done on a merit basis. Municipal Commissioner Ganesh Deshmukh said, “We have initiated the recruitment process for 377 posts. It will be transparent and based on merit.”

Alerting everyone about the fake job recruitment scandals, he advised, “Candidates should not fall for any offers by anyone claiming to be assuring jobs. They should call on our toll-free numbers in case of any doubts.”

He further added, “If any officer or office bearer offers direct or indirect allurement, candidates should complain to the police with proof. We shall also take strict action.”

A top civic official stated, "The response shows that aspirant candidates are interested and eager to work with barely seven years old corporations." He continued by saying that the company was committed to upholding transparency throughout the hiring process.
