The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) faced many difficulties in managing traffic during the recent Ganeshotsav festival. To solve this issue of traffic police, PMC hired 30 traffic wardens to help the traffic department. These 30 traffic personnel are deployed at strategic locations throughout the PMC area.

In addition to helping to prevent unlawful parking on public streets, these traffic wardens will guarantee efficient traffic flow throughout the city.

In 2018, the Navi Mumbai Police demanded that traffic wardens be hired.

Five years ago, the Navi Mumbai Police wrote a letter to the PMC. In the letter, they demanded hiring 100 traffic wardens to manage traffic in the region. They said that the corporation is surrounded by major roads and witnesses the movement of heavy vehicles throughout the day.

The PMC General Body also accepted a proposal to provide 50 wardens. The cost of these wardens will be borne by PMC, and the traffic department will handle the operation and legal elements of these wardens.

In response to mounting traffic concerns during the recent Ganeshotsav celebrations, the PMC acted quickly by seeking more security personnel to aid in handling the situation. With a police force shortage, the commissioner quickly responded by deploying 30 security guards from the Maharashtra Security Force.

These security personnel have been deliberately placed around the PMC. These guards, who have been specifically deployed to support the Navi Mumbai Police's traffic department, have been actively regulating traffic at critical crossings throughout Panvel.

Following consideration, it was unanimously decided to select Maharashtra Security Force officers as security guards. A monthly pay of INR 12 lakh has been set aside for this program for all 30 wardens by the authorities, with the municipality contributing a substantial annual budget of INR 1.44 crore to help the police with traffic congestion.

The traffic police are assisted by the appointed security officers. Meanwhile, the civic body has retained an additional 15 security guards for its own protection. This combined effort intends to alleviate the difficulties caused by traffic congestion, which is a persistent problem, especially during the holiday season and festival season.

Apart from hiring wardens, in September, PMC installed traffic signals at Adai Circle and Swarnganga Chowk. The frequent traffic congestion at Swaranganga Chowk and Adai Circle Chowk has been reduced with the installation of a traffic signal.

On the Panvel-Matheran route, numerous vehicles are traveling towards Panvel City from Adai Chowk. Due to the increase in traffic brought on by the buses of various enterprises, there was constant traffic gridlock in this area during peak hours.

Additionally, a significant increase in the number of vehicles has occurred in this area as an outcome of the growing population. As a result, traffic is moving quickly through this intersection. However, it was impossible to completely rule out the likelihood of an accident. The Municipal Corporation, along with the Electricity Department, has built a signal junction in Adai Chowk to address this issue. The building of this signal has relieved the area's traffic congestion, and the locals are now expressing their joy as the situation has started to get better.
