Panvel City Police Station has installed CCTV cameras at crowded and important places of the city for the safety of the citizens. The CCTV cameras will help in crime detection and maintain law and order in the city. Panvel is an old city with narrow lanes and sometimes it becomes difficult to detect crime in the absence of CCTV cameras.
A total of 44 CCTV cameras have been installed at crowded and important places in the Panvel City area and a control room has been set up at the police station, Panvel City Police Station's Senior Police Inspector Nitin Thakre told the Free Press Journal. According to the Navi Mumbai Police, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) will install 500 CCTV cameras each in their jurisdiction.
Last week, Panvel MLA Prashant Thakur inspected the control room and said that these cameras would play an important role in maintaining law and order in the city. MLA Thakur discussed traffic jams at crowded places, markets, Saraf Bazar, Mirch Gali and other places.
