On Thursday, September 30, Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse stated that the Former Mumbai Police Commissioner is missing.

Moreover, several news agencies reported that Former Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh has fled to Russia. However, Walse did not confirm this. He further added that investigating agencies have no information on the whereabouts of Param Bir Singh who is an accused in an alleged money laundering case.

According to reports, Param Bir Singh was transferred from the post of Mumbai police commissioner in March 2021 after city police officer Sachin Waze was arrested by the NIA in the case of an explosives-laden SUV found near industrialist Mukesh Ambani's south Mumbai house Antilia. Waze has been dismissed from service since.

Post the fiasco, the Former Police Commissioner had accused the then State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of asking police officers to collect bribes from hotel and bar owners. However, the Former Home Minister had denied the same. Moreover, he stepped down from his post subsequently as CBI registered a case against him.

Meanwhile, at least four FIRs of extortion have been registered against Param Bir Singh in Mumbai and neighbouring Thane.
