On Thursday, around 4:30 am, a part of ceiling collapsed in a house injuring mother and a son at Bandra’s Government colony.

The mother-son duo were seriously injured and are being treated at Bhabha Hospital.

Nine-year-old Naitik Sawant and 32-year-old Vaishali Yogesh Sawant are the names of the injured. Both reside with their family in the government colony.

Recently, a similar incident took place in Worli’s BDD Chawl where a part of the ceiling slab fell on a mother and daughter. The woman suffered nine stitches on her head after the fall.

The government colony which is spread on 99 acres of the land in Bandra (E) is in a bad state. Despite this, redevelopment is still not taking place. Residents have been criticising the government to ignore their pleas of redevelopment.
