Byculla- One penguin (2.5) died at Jijamata Udyan, which was brought from South Korea. In total, eight penguins were brought and were kept at Jijamata Udyan. Jijamata Udyan’s Deputy Superintendent Dr. Sanjay Raut confirmed the news adding that the reason for the penguin’s death is still not known. These penguins were scheduled to put on display on 15th November at Jijamata Udyan.
MNS corporator Sandeep Deshpande has criticised the BMC’s move. “We knew that penguins will not be able to tolerate Indian climatic condition and we had raised this issue as well. Still, they did not budge and bought the penguins. BMC’s ruling party is responsible for the penguin’s death”, said MNS corporator Sandeep Deshpande.
