On Friday, October 1, the state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) again increased domestic fuel prices as international crude oil prices remain high. This is the second hike this week.

Petrol and diesel prices touched record levels across the country after rates were hiked by 25 paise and 30 paise a litre respectively.

With this, petrol prices have reached nearly INR 108 per litre in Mumbai. It is retailing at INR 107.95.

While it is being sold at INR 101.89 in Delhi. It costs INR 102.47 per litre in Kolkata and INR 99.58 per litre in Chennai.

On the other hand, diesel prices in the national capital crossed INR 90 per litre for the first time. Whereas, it is one hike away from breaching INR 98 per litre in Mumbai as it is being sold at 97.84 per litre. It costs INR 93.27 per litre in Kolkata and INR 94.74 per litre in Chennai.

Moreover, petrol can be bought at INR 110.37, hiked by 26 paise in Bhopal, and diesel costs INR 99.09 per litre, raised by 32 paise.

This is the third price increase in petrol since the ending of a three-week-long hiatus in rate revision and the fifth in the case of diesel. Moreover, the number of cities where petrol price remains over INR 100 per litre has also increased after the fresh round of hikes.
