Poisar river will be widened and deepened from Malad Kurar culvert to Kandivali East in the Western Railway zone. With this work, the Hanuman Nagar area of Kandivali will become flood free. This work will cost INR 4.78 crore including various taxes. This proposal has been approved by the administration.

Hanuman Nagar is a densely populated part of Kurar Puliya to Kandivali East Western Railway zone. Since this area is a low-lying area, flood-like situations have occurred during heavy rains during the last few years. Due to this situation, citizens have to face a lot of problems. Local MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar has requested the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) administration to take steps to get rid of this.

Taking cognizance of this, the Kandivali R South BMC department has decided to develop the Poisar river. Some huts on the river banks will be affected by this work. The affected huts have been demolished by providing alternative places to these hut holders.

Construction of a 300 metre long security wall will be started soon on the empty space of these huts. Construction of the security wall will free Hanuman Nagar area from water logging during the rainy season.
